REQUIREMENTS:
DESIGN:
Materials:
Glass, class 3.
Color:
As required.
Inside finish: Smooth.
Marking:
M24560/15 and the glass batch number shall be molded,
sandblasted, etched, or a combination thereof, the
located as shown on figure 1.
First article: Examination of product, light output, color
(chromaticity), mechanical shock, thermal shock,
hydrostatic pressure, breakage pattern, color
deterioration.
Hydrostatic:
Glass shall be capable of withstanding, for its useful
optical life, a continuous or fluctuating external
hydrostatic pressure of 1500 lb/in2 when mounted in the
fixture in which it is designed to be used.
NOTES:
1.
A vitreous, opaque, black or dark gray weather and heat
resistant enamel of a good commercial grade shall be applied
to black-out the globe as indicated.
2.
The globe shall pass the hydrostatic test when assembled on and
tested with the base assembly of MIL-DTL-24560/13.

In addition to the first article tests listed above, the paint removal
test shall also be performed (see MIL-DTL-24560).
